Product tips
Silicone rubber
Clean the object and possibly coat it with a lubricant like
Vaseline or a soap solution.
Make a cast around the object using cardboard, wood
or a similar material, leaving a space of at least
0,5 cm between the cast and the object. Seal the bottom
of the cast with tape.
Please note
Place the object inside the cast in such a way that
no silicone can flow underneath it. The base are will
later become the filling area of your cast. If the object
is light, it may float on top of the silicone. If this is
the case, secure the object to the bottom of the cast.
Stir the silicone well before use.
Mix ratio: 5 units of hardener per 100 units of silicone.
Stir the mixture well with a sturdy spoon or knife for
1 to 2 minutes. (If possible, do this under airtight
conditions for a maximum of 5 minutes.)
Pour the mixture over the object in a thin stream
to prevent air from getting between the object and
the silicone. Only use the mixture that pours from
the beaker. Do not include what remains stuck to
the sides of the beaker, since this silicone will not be
well mixed.
The drying time depends on the ambient temperature.
Higher temperatures speed up the drying process,
while lower temperatures slow it down.
You could accelerate the hardening process by adding
more hardener to the mixture.
Once the silicone has hardened, remove the object
from the cast. Depending on the shape of the object,
it may be necessary to cut one side of the cast.
