Candles in Garden Pots

The production of garden candles provides a fun variation to regular candle making. It does not require any additional investment and the candles do not require much wax. This option can greatly increase the production of an operation with a limited capacity.

Gildewerk supplies terracotta garden pots in various sizes. The smaller versions are great interior decorations. If they are intended for indoor use, provide them with indoor wicks.

Directions for use
1. Dip the outdoor wick into paraffin. Hold the wick under the surface of the wax for a few seconds until bubbles begin to rise. Allow the wick to cool.
2. Cut the wick to measure. Tip: You could attach the wicks with plaster. Mix the plaster with water to form a paste. Place a spoonful of the plaster onto the base of the pot and insert the pre-waxed wick into it. Allow the plaster to harden. For indoor wicks, use round wick feet.
3. Fill the pot to around three-quarters with paraffin granules or fragments of old, uncoloured paraffin.
4. If desired: colour 90-95 °C wax with a colour tablet (a maximum of 1 tablet per litre). If you mix some citronella into the wax, you will create a mosquito repelling candle.
5. Fill the pot with the (coloured) wax.
6. Refill pot a second time if you notice bubbles in the wax.
