Moulding Soap Startset

How do I mould soap?
1. Fill the tray of the Mini-Bain with about 5 cm of water.

2. Prepare the soap casts. The casts must be clean and dry. If necessary, first clean them with hot water. Seal two-part casts well by pressing the edges firmly into the grooves.

3. Cut small fragments from a block of moulding soap with a knife or slicer and place them into the Mini- Bain beaker.

4. Place the beaker into the Mini-Bain and carefully heat the soap to a maximum of 65 °C. Monitor the temperature with a thermometer.

5. Once the soap has completely melted, add colour and fragrance according to the recipe and stir the mixture well.

6. Now carefully pour the liquid soap into the synthetic casts. If you would like to add decorations, first fill the casts halfway and, once a thin film has formed, place the decoration onto it. Add soap until the decoration is only just submerged, wait for it to set slightly, then fill the cast.

Please note!
First test the decorations for heat resistance. Do not use decorations that may cause injuries. First plasticise photographs or images.

7. Once cooled, the soap should easily come free from the cast.

Tip: The soap will more easily come free if placed in a deepfreezer or refrigerator for an hour.

8. When two-part casts are used, a ridge will form where the casts meet. This is easily removed with a knife.

9. Allow the bars of soap to expel moisture overnight under a cloth and then wrap them.

Moulded soap recipes
The amounts of colouring and perfume to be used are best measured using Gildewerk’s handy measuring spoon set, but you could also use teaspoons or tablespoons. Colours can be blended amongst themselves. Here, we have selected a colour that, in our opinion, suits the fragrance. Of course, you are welcome to select your own combinations.

Only use ingredients supplied by Gildewerk, because only these are guaranteed to be suitable for the production of soap.
